Sonia Riley

Birth and Postpartum Doula

Hey there, I'm Sonia!
After serving for over 13 years as a Community Health Worker in Kent County, supporting families, especially expectant mothers, the choice to become a doula was an easy one. It's been incredibly rewarding to provide prenatal and postnatal support to many women in our community.
Being bilingual in Spanish and English has been a big help in my work. I've received thorough training in everything from breastfeeding and parenting, to advocacy and nutrition. What I love most is connecting with women and making sure they feel heard and supported based on their unique needs.
I'm all about empowering you so you feel knowledgeable and confident when it's time to welcome your baby into the world. Every birthing experience is special and deserves to be respected and supported in its own way.
Outside of work, family is everything to me—I'm a proud grandma to seven!
In my downtime, you'll find me drawing, writing poetry, or painting. I also love camping in tents or cabins, surrounded by nature's tranquility with a crackling campfire and the peaceful flow of water nearby. Faith guides me in all aspects of my life, and I'm grateful for the journey it's taken me on.

"Sonia was a great help during my pregnancy and after having my baby. She was always super attentive and always there to answer any questions. I have no words to thank her for all that she did for me!"

"Having Sonia at my birth validating all my feelings and being a helpful reminder of what I wanted and being supportive in every way was a blessing and made my experience way more enjoyable and at ease with my journey."

"Sonia siempre estuvo en contacto conmigo y veló por mis intereses. Ella me mantuvo informada de todo el proceso, estuvo atenta a mis necesidades, me tomó con mucho cariño."

"Sonia was a great comfort and help to me so that my husband could do what he needed to do so that when we had to leave we could just leave. She also was a great guide in telling us what we should be updating my midwife with and when. And during pushing, I was on my hands and knees and Sonia was right next to me the whole time helping me control my breathing, holding my fan (which was a HUGE physical comfort!! Pushing would've been more uncomfortable if I'd been warm on top of pushing a baby out lol), and encouraging me. It helped so much to have her right next to me on the bed! Sonia came over to our home the next day to generally check on us and to give me breastfeeding advice. She also gave me a recommendation for a local highly esteemed pediatric dentist as our son has a tongue tie."
